Lives Improved

For more than six decades, our community through United Way has raised and invested millions of dollars to unite people, organizations, and resources to improve lives in Hall County.

This year, we’ve also challenged our community to go beyond giving financial resources. In addition to the very important and necessary monetary goal, we have added a goal of action. For the first time, we want to embrace and celebrate how you LIVE UNITED to improve lives.  Between September 10, 2009 and January 15, 2010 - our goal of action is to gather 100 Ways Hall County LIVES UNITED.  This could include coaching a youth sports team, reading to a classroom of 3rd graders, cleaning out a closet and donating gently used items to a thrift store, giving blood or starting a walking group in your neighborhood.  Anything you do that improves lives…even your own…we want to hear about.  Click here,  take two minutes, and write a few sentences about how you, your family, your neighborhood or your company LIVES UNITED. We want to inspire others with your community action.

From WATKINS CHIROPRACTIC
For the past 22 years, since Dr. Mary Watkins opened up her Practice, Watkins Chiropractic on Historic Green Street, she has held a one time per year "Patient Appreciation Day" in the fall.  In addition to saying thank you to her patients she wanted make an opportunity for "giving forward."  As a result, patients are offered a free adjustment and therapy, and they are asked to bring either a monetary donation or a gift of items that can be used by Gateway Domestic Violence Center and their residents.  Dr. Watkins and staff also participate in giving both monetary donations and other type items.

It is not an usual site on the Monday following "Patient Appreciation Day" to see the volunteers from Gateway House "filling" a pick-up truck with donated items, everything from paper towels, to bedding, to baby items to kitchen items.

Dr. Watkins also feels that no one should live in pain, so she also offers on that day an opportunity for a "new" patient to receive a free examination/consultation and x-rays on that very special day.  Our 2009 Patient Appreciation Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th.

This is how Dr. Mary Watkins/Watkins Chiropractic LIVES UNITED in Hall County.
