Who We AreOUR MISSION: Uniting people, organizations and resources to improve lives in Hall County.
United Way of Hall County is about relationships -- relationships with the community, with donors, with volunteers, with agencies, and with community partners.
Our vision is that United Way will be a driving force to create sustained changes in community conditions. Beyond simply providing funds, the mission of United Way is uniting people, organizations and resources to improve lives in Hall County.
The roots of United Way of Hall County run deep into the red Georgia clay. In 1948 a group of community leaders began the Community Chest, the predecessor of United Way of Hall County, as a way to raise funds for the needy of the area. Early campaign chairs included well-known leaders Lester Hosch, John Jacobs, Bubba Dunlap, Joe Telford and Conrad Romberg. The first year the Chest raised $17,000. It quickly increased to nearly $50,000 by the end of its first decade of existence and today is raising nearly $2 million a year. The Chest...one campaign for all... was a great idea whose time had come. The Community Chest allowed our community to assemble more resources, help more people and have more impact.
Through the years, the Chest evolved and grew. In 1972, the Community Chest became United Way of Hall County. Today, United Way is how our community uniquely comes together to set an agenda to improve lives in Hall County - to invest resources, to build partnerships, to advocate, and to volunteer. To LIVE UNITED.
